Rental Agreement Terms
All car rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, provided during booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This agreement outlines important terms, conditions, insurance provisions, fees, and your obligations for the rental period. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the latter will take precedence.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a Vehicle with Us
- To rent a vehicle, drivers must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may vary based on the vehicle type, with potential extra charges for those under 25. A valid driving license appropriate for the vehicle category is required, held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. Renters must also present valid identification and proof of current residence, along with payment information and a security deposit. Additional requirements may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payments
- Bookings can be made conveniently via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Dartford office. To confirm your reservation, a deposit may be required. The full payment and any security deposit are generally due upon collecting your vehicle. All prices are displayed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, ensuring secure transactions through trusted payment processors.
4. Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, a thorough inspection is necessary to identify any pre-existing damage, which must be reported immediately. A vehicle condition report will be documented and signed by both parties. It is your responsibility to return the vehicle in the same condition as when it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. Additionally, please ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as when it was picked up; otherwise, refueling charges will apply. Late returns may incur extra fees, so please notify us as soon as possible if you anticipate returning the vehicle later than agreed. You will be held accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges incurred during the rental period, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Overview
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. The specifics of the coverage and any applicable excess amounts are outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to further limit your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options carefully. You remain liable for any damages or losses up to the insurance excess amount, unless additional insurance applies. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse will be your responsibility, regardless of any insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies depend on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For specific terms, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities or purposes, including racing or off-road driving. It is prohibited to transport hazardous materials or allow unauthorized drivers to operate the vehicle. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Adhering to passenger and weight limits is required, and operating outside the agreed geographical boundaries without prior approval is not permitted.
Breach of terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, nor for any loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your usage of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the total amount you paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not affect our liability for death or personal injury due to negligence, or for fraudulent activities.
9. Legal Jurisdiction
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any legal disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
10. Modifications to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes will take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continuing to use our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
